Benefit for flood victims in the Snoqualmie Valley

My best friend, Mary Weeks, who lives in Snoqualmie, is putting a fund raiser together with Mt. Si Golf Course to benefit the flood victims in Snoqualmie.  I know many of my own friends love to golf here so I’m sending this out to a few who might want to participate.  I know it will be a rousing success and, if you are available and interested, I encourage you to contact her and join the event.  If you know anyone who also might be interested, please forward this to them.  I know many of us know victims who lost A LOT in the floods and are desperate.

Warm Regards, Suzanne Wiggins-Ackerson

Dear friends and family
As you know, the Snoqualmie Valley has been hit twice this winter by terrible flooding.  The floods have not only done damage to homes, but to businesses as well.  One business that is dear to my heart is the Mt. Si Golf Course.  They have had over $25,000 damage to their "elk" fence alone.  Because of all this destruction, Sherrie Liebsack and I asked ourselves "what can we do to help?"  We approached Matt Campbell at Mt. Si Golf Course with the idea of having a golf event to raise money to help them with their repairs.  He was touched by our offer, but declined it saying "their are so many more people in the valley that have suffered more than us."  So, Sherrie and I altered our direction.  We are co-chairing a "Links to the Heart" event sponsored by Mt. Si Golf Course.  It will be a four person scramble golf tournament, followed by a wonderful casual dinner and auction.  This is not a high pressure event........the focus is to have fun and raise money for those in need.  Options are the whole package or separate for those who don't play golf or if you have plans and can only play golf.  The cost is $40 per person plus green fees.  This includes practice balls, dinner, and prizes.  Golf carts will be available at a reduced rate of $10.  If you are unable to attend, we will gladly accept donations for the auction or monetary donations.
Due to the urgency of the issue, this event is scheduled for Saturday, February 14th.  Now, I know that this is Valentines Day........that's why I'm writing to you in advance.  Valentines Day is about love..........what better way to show your love than to give to those in need.  The money we raise will go directly to Encompass and to the food bank.  Encompass is the local organization that is helping to take care of the needs of the flood victims.
For more information or to sign up, please contact me at either 425-396-4448 or weekslm@msn.com .  Really hope to hear from you,
Mary

Happy Holidays SeaBuds

Snow @ Christmas 12-22-2008 6-22-33 AM
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
This year has been "knock on wood" a very good year, Other than the world economy being in the tank and the Washington sports teams taking the last place in all their divisions. I was so happy when our area turned into a winter wonder land. I have been looking forward to this since we retired and do not even have to give a thought of how we are going to get to the airport.
I also would like to thank all of you for using SeaBuds and keeping in touch.

Once Again The BEST to All of You

a blog finally! Thanks Tom

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to mention that I have said yes to a wonderful, kind man who has been a rock for me through breast cancer and all that life has thrown at me for 6 years.  No date for a wedding; we wouldn’t want to rush into anything! We are living in Bellevue and hoping someday to move to Whidbey…soon.  If you hear of any acreage facing east, that has no CC&Rs for a ham radio tower, let me know.  Personally, I want a water view. Best wishes to you all for the holiday season.   Linda Shirley Couser

A Great Article

Hi Everyone -

In the Sunday (Nov 30) Seattle Times Newspaper,  "Pacific Northwest" magazine section, page 30, titled "Fantasies Fulfilled" is a great article on Steve Flume's afterlife from UAL. Steve is a master carpenter and does beautiful work, as pictured in this article. Way to go Steve.

You see there is "good news" stories out there.

Anyone in the Sea area, of course, interested in getting together to play some games occasionally, right now we're playing Mexican Dominoes, give Annie Greig a call 206-285-8502.

I'm heading to Ariz to warm up for a wk. and  I'm sure I'll be shuffling a few decks of cards.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are enjoying those leftovers     Jane

Happy Thanksgiving

turkeyday Just wanted to give my thanks for all of my UAL friends both retired and still spending their time in the sky's
We have seen a lot of our friends pass on, deal with health complications and this country's and our economic future seem like never ending bad news.
This is the time to think of all the good things we all have and share them with our friends and family.
I would like to give a special thanks to those of you that have taken the time to either post or send me things to post on our blog. SeaBudsChatter. I was pleased by the number of resposnes to the poll on how often you visit the blog. It gives me a reason to continue the upkeep of both SeaBuds and SeaBudsChatter .

Happy Thanks Giving

Lynette Schurman

I'm passing along a note I received from Lynette Schurman's sister Diane. I'd heard that Lynette had broken her hip! After reading her note below, I know you'll agree that Lynette needs many prayers, love, and support. Karen DelGrosso

Karen,
Lynette fell in her kitchen about a month ago and broke her hip. She had a total hip replacement and on the third day she was moved to the nursing home for recovery. While in the nursing home she again (fell?) and rebroke her hip. They did a second surgery ten days after the first. Again she was moved to the nursing home and on the following Monday they took X-rays and found the hip was broken a third time. She had surgery again this last Monday, Nov. 17; this time they put a special part in her hip and she is in a full leg brace. She is in extreme pain. She is in Capitol Mall Hospital in Olympia. Room 329 B.

Lynette has been through more misery than anyone should have to survive through. I just hope that things start looking up for her. As you are probably aware, she also had back surgery on July 10, 2008.

Dianne

Hi Everyone!!

Boy the holidays are approaching fast and the days get dark so early. Seems like only yesterday that it was summer. Oh well.  I had week long visit in PA to see my grandson, dtr, and son-in-law which was most enjoyable. Coming home thru ORD I ran into, Brenda Andrews (coming from visiting family and going out again to Mex a few days after returning home), Nick and Nancy Barker (visiting family in Jersey), and Debbie Adams and her dtr, Molly (returning from Debbie's mother's funeral).  It felt like we were trying to commute home, we missed one flt and stood by for the next which we all got on.  It was great to catch up with everyone and the time sure flies by when there's a group of you, plus if you have to go to the bathroom or get something to eat you don't have to lug all your stuff around.

Mary Ellen Lee had surgery on 11/18 for endometriosis cancer. She had a complete hysterectomy, part of her right kidney removed, and 30-40 lymph nodes removed. She's in the Univ of Wash hospital and will be there for approx 1 wk (approx 11/25). Cards can be sent to:  13739 -  15th NE #6, Sea, WA 98125.  We'll be thinking and praying for you Mary Ellen, and may you have a speedy recovery.

I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for the holidays, and hope you get to be where you want to be for the holidays.  Cheers to you all, and I'll be in touch      Jane
