October 11Th is going to be a VERY SPECIAL day at the Museum of Flight. Please share this with all your airline friends.
Can you believe that the Boeing 707 will be celebrating her 50Th Birthday? Where does time go? How can all those years flown by so quickly? I went to a planning meeting about this program on Monday. It was so interesting. The program is really more about how the 707 was developed than just how Pan Am flew it. It should be of special interest to Boeing friends and pilot friends. There are going to be a lot of important Boeing people there. It was an honor to have Joe Sutter, Brien Wygel and Peter Morton sign my beautiful large Pan Am Boeing 707 for me. Joe also signed my Pan Am 747-SP model. The Museum's gift store sells Joe Sutter's book "747... Creating the World's First Jumbo Jet and other Adventures from Life in Aviation" as well as William (Bill) Cook's book "The Road to the 707". Both books are only available in paperback now.You can find Joe's book on-line in the hardback edition. The Airline Collectible show is always very interesting. They give away door prizes all day! Plus you can win tickets on Alaska Airlines. It's a lot of fun to see how many airline things people have for sale. And to think of all the stuff I threw away!!
Please share this ..I hope to see you at the Museum of Flight on October 11Th!

During the mid-1950s, Boeing made a risky gamble to redesign the “Dash 80” into a passenger jet airliner. Pan Am flew the new Boeing 707 on its first commercial flight from New York to Paris on October 26, 1958. Join us for panel of those who were involved in the introduction of this historic aircraft into commercial aviation. The panel will include Joe Sutter, 707 Chief Aerodynamicist; Brien Wygle, 707 Test Pilot; Peter Morton, 707 Training Instructor; Herb Stevenson, 707 Captain for Pan Am. The moderator will be Mike Lombardi, Chief Historian for The Boeing Company.
