Museum Of Flight Luncheon

What a wonderful luncheon at the Museum of Flight for the 200+ FA's that attended. Karen Anderson and Cheryl Grimm and all those that helped in putting this luncheon together deserve a standing ovation!!!!! Not only did we see the exhibit Peggy Verger help put together of FA uniforms, but a bunch of FA's were there in some of our old uniforms that brought back great memories. Remembering how good we looked (or not).
It was so good to see so many of you - because of the lg group it's impossible to say hi to everyone or even have any lengthy conversation but the hugs feel wonderful. I'll have a smile on my face for days thinking of seeing and talking to those I got to and such a warm glow inside knowing I'm a part of such a great group. Nothing compares to what we have shared with each other for the past 40 yrs or so. Not too many people have had the experiences we have had with each other - not to mention the places we did them in. And what's so wonderful is we're still having them.
For those in the Seattle area, the Museum of Flight is FREE this Sat., May 17th, for any active or retired FA. You need only wear a pair of wings to get in. At 2 PM there is a talk of somekind and then at about 3PM they want to take a group pic outside of all the FA's present. So if you find your calendar empty come on to the museum.
For some personal news I just went back to PA to celebrate my grandson's 1st b'day and then swung by DEN to visit Larry Pershing in his new and gorgeous home. We played lots of cards and ate the wonderful food Larry always prepares. A very good time. Next wk I'm going down to PHX to visit my cruising roommate, Terri Coyne, and then we're going over to Shari Pitt's to play cards in (as they promised me) air
conditioned homes and cars. Cathie Bieri will also be joining us.
You can also mark your calendar's for Sept 3rd and 4th on Whidbey Island. Thurs the 3rd is the spagetti feed this yr being held at Jo Ann Coulter's home right on the water, beautiful place. Then the picnic the following day at the same location as last yr, the Villa Luna.
Again it was wonderful to see so many of you and look forward to seeing you again real soon
Bye for now Jane

A Note From Jane

Hi Everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
I wanted to say a few words about Susie Graves Memorial and how nice it was. About 20-25 of us were there. I introduced myself to her brother and he said he was pleased to see us as he didn't know how to get ahold of her FA friends. I told him we had our ways of getting the word out. He gave a nice eulogy and said that she was 10 yrs older than him and when he was 10 she left for flying. How she loved balloons and the color purple and how she probably wore purple underwear, but he didn't know for sure. Mary Tooker spoke to him and said how she had flown a lot with Susie and yes she did indeed wear purple underwear. As far as what happened to Susie her sister volunteered the following to us nosey ladies. She had had a heart attack in March and of course xrays had been taken but nothing had shown up until 30 days before she died when she was diagnosed with lung cancer and in those 30 days she ended up dying of brain cancer, it had traveled and grown that fast. The last 10 yrs had been hard on her and some days were just too painful to get out of bed. She's at peace and out of pain now but always in our thoughts and memories.
About that sending a card to soldiers - no good - go to www.snopes.com and there is an article stating the Post Ofc will not accept cards addressed that way (To Any Recovering or Injured Soldier) - good idea but it doesn't work.
Well, two wks from today we leave for Barcelona for 3 nites and then our cruise across the Atlantic. Getting excited about that. I hear from a lot of you that you are also doing some traveling - this is exactly what needs to be posted on Tom's chatter blog www.seabuds.seasw@blogger.com - so let us all know what you're up to. Put it in your favorites and you go right there. This email will also be posted there.
Take care everyone and Happy Holidays to you all Jane

Error in Newspapers on Susie's Memorial

Dale Murtland-McClaskey has been keeping me informed of the info on Susie and this AM we heard the newspapers were saying the date of the memorial was on the 23rd. She talked with Dennis and he even had to make some calls to make sure the family hadn't changed anything and as I reported the memorial is on Monday, Nov. 12th at 11AM. The family is going to have the newspaper correct this info. The address in the paper is 630 - 7th Ave. N. for the church, the address I gave you was the priests home address and is located right next to the church. Hope this clears everything up - I can see Susie laughing at all the fuss.

Hope all is well with everyone. We've had our share of losses lately. I'm so glad I was able to see Susie at some of the luncheons we both attended in the past couple of yrs. At times like this I'm glad I made the effort to attend those luncheons when I could, you just never know. I'm also glad we had a few more laughs together beyond flying.
I'm presently between trips, just got back from a wk in Cabo where a good time was had by all, and am planning to head out to Barcelona, Sp the wk after Thanksgiving with Terri Coyne, Cathie Bieri and Shari Pitt. for a 3 day stay and then a 9 day cruise to Boston. Never crossed the Atlantic in Dec. We have balcony's, sure hope we get to use them, and our rooms are adjoining. We're gonna have bfst rm svc and play cards in our pj's. Can't wait!!!
Some other news is my daughter, Tracey, husb Tom, and my 6 mo old grandson, Ethan, are moving to PA. What a bummer :(. Guess I'll be making some cross country trips. I'm gonna drive with Tracey and Ethan and 2 dogs in Jan to PA, about 1 hr west of Philly. Could be a real adventure. Snow maybe???
I'll be at Susie's memorial so hope to see some of you then. Be Safe and Take Care Jane
