I was saddened to hear of the loss of Brenda Houston. I am sure those of you that were Shuttle flyers would remember her. One very nice lady.

Fernando Pelaez, retired CSR

I'm sorry to have to pass along the following. We received the info below via an email, so have no other additional details. I'll try to get a family address for cards, etc.
.... received a call from Fernandos' daughter Carrie yesterday and she informed me that Fernando has passed away. A funeral service is planned for Friday the 25th at St Olaf Catholic Church located at 18943 Caldart Ave NE Poulsbo, WA 98370. The service is scheduled for 12:00 Noon.

Lowdown on Winther

Well it seems some mice made a big nest under the floor boards of an outbuilding that housed the lawn mower, gas for mower, etc. when spontaneous combustion took the shed, which set a nearby tree on fire, and the wind was blowing towards the 100 yr old house and set it on fire by branches from the tree.

 

Cherie emailed me and said she stayed at Lana's for a wk, and is now back on the eastside and living with family, and house sitting for now. She really appreciates all the help that was sent her way and has another NEW address: PO Box 2, Metaline, WA 99152. What a good bunch of folks you are. Thanks for being there -  it's a real comfort to know so many reach out.

 

Anyway Cherie is planning on coming to the picnic in Sept on Whidbey so get up there and say "Hey"

Alaska's Tracy Arm & glacier

Jerry, my brother & sister-in-law and I took a cruise on 6-22-08 on Princess Cruise Lines (which I'd NOT recommend) up to Alaska.  I took a few pictures of Tracy Arm and the glacier.  Much of the cruise reminded me of the San Juan Islands.  Click and view:
