HAPPY NEW YEARS

A very Happy New Year to everyone and I hope your Christmas was a joyous one.

Getting back from our cruise on the 12th of Dec made the prep time for the holidays a bit short but made it through Xmas at least.

Our cruise was wonderful. We had warm balmy weather in the 70's for most of the crossing until the day before we landed in BOS when it hit 60 degrees. There were days when the ocean didn't even have any white caps. Only one day was a bit windy and choppy but you hardly noticed it onboard the ship.  We definitely had better weather than the Seattle, Portland area plus that big ice storm in the midwest.

We had a wonderful time in Barcelona. Coyne got this big swollen eye thing going for her, but it disappeared after a few days, then on our shore excursion in Funchal, Maderira, Portugal, a small island, she fell and tore her jeans on her knee and the skin underneath with blood running down (we got pics) then 2 days before arriving in BOS she got maybe the Noro Virus cause it was yukky and the morning we had to get off the ship and go for a cross country plane ride she could hardly get off the pot but we gave her a bunch of immodium and she finally got plugged up to make the trip home.

Cathie Bieri got pneumonia, almost, I lost my tourist bus pass and we had to walk a bit in Barcelona, but all in all I think we can say we had a great time.  Played lots and lots of cards and of course ate lots and lots also.

Hope everyone is doing good, knock on wood, I haven't heard of anything. Here's hoping we all have a great '08 and I look forward to seeing some of you in the new year.

I have my dtr and grandson staying with me until a home is found for them back in PA where Tom is already working at his new job and house hunting in his off hours.

CHEERS to you all     Jane

Fernando Peleaz, retired Customer Service Agent

I decided to pass on the following (see below) from Bob Brumfield and Dan Connolly, retired CSA's. Like Dan, 'my Danny' talked with Fernando and he said would love to hear from old friends. I think he really needs the support. If you remember Fernando, perhaps you'd like to contact him.
Thanks Karen

Merry Christmas from Maui!

Merry Christmas to all from the Marriott's Maui Ocean Club! Jaime and Trevor planned this trip and asked Grandma to join them. How could I refuse?! This is a beautiful spot especially if you're traveling with small children.

What fun it's been to spend time with Scarlett! We're spending the winter in TX and it's only been about two months since I've seen her, but she's changed so much. She's talking up a storm and even greeted me at the airport with a big "Aloha!"

Today we drove to the Maui Prince Hotel where Jaime and Trevor got married six years ago. The last picture was taken on the spot where they said their vows. It was fun to go back there because the day of the wedding I was too excited to absorb much of the beauty.
May you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Andie

It's that time of year again, when I'm thinking about all my Seattle friends and wishing I were there to go to a few luncheons!!
We have had a wierd year. Steve's mom fell last January and broke her femur. She is 87 and quite fraile so he went back to Calif. to help her out. The next thing we know, one of his sisters is trying to prove she has dementia and put her away, take over her assets, etc. Well, many doctors later, court appearances, and a huge attorney bill, the case was dropped because it was proved that Helen (mom) didn't have dementia. A little forgettful---yes-----fraile----yes----dementia----NO. The next thing I know, however, Helen can't be alone anymore so guess where she is living. You got it----with us, in our guest house. That came out of left field and now we're adjusting to being caregivers, and it's not easy. Thank goodness for our guesthouse! Obviolusly our life has changed for the time being and certainly cramps our travel plans. What will next year bring?? Stay tuned.
Other than that we are both well. We have alot of snow now and it is beautiful. Our Christmas will be a white one. Our work on Sedona is almost complete and we have renters in there until the end of April. We will spend the month of May there ourselves (with mom and cat of course) and finish up a new patio. Work on the Colorado house is going slow because Steve spent most of this past year in California. He will pick up after the holidays.
I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hugs to all. Andie Katres

Christmas cheer

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my United colleagues and friends.

Every year for the last 11 years, Jerry (my husband/ret'd pilot), Lorrie Labranche, John Schaeffer (Lorrie's husband) and I have shared a wonderful tradition.  We dress very casually and spend the day in downtown Seattle looking at and enjoying all the decorations and holiday cheer.  We stop for a coffee and goodie mid afternoon at Dilatant's cafe in Westlake Center.  We "shop for jewels" at Tiffany's.  We watch the Santa and his munchkins in Nordstrom's Christmas window.  We enjoy the lights and decorations.  Then we go out for a really nice dinner.  This year we ate at the Edgewater Hotel.  There's no shopping, no hype, no dressing up... it'very low key.  It's one of our favorite holiday events.
May all of you have special traditions with family and friends and we wish you a wonderful holiday season.
Love,
Suzanne & Jerry

So here is your chance to share your Christmas greetings with your airline friends. Just jot down what your want to say and email it to seabuds.seasw@blogger.com (put this in address in your address book)
The subject of your email becomes the Title of your post.

Remember it's not only your Right to post to the blog, But your Duty to keep in touch with your friends.

Anita and I went to the South End Christmas luncheon yesterday. It was great seeing all that attended. One of my first observations was the fact that so many people had been out of touch for such a long long time, that the servers had to bring in reinforcments to get people to take their seats so they could get orders taken. The food was good and the company was GREAT! Always good to see everybody and catch up. I know these events seem to get farther apart and the gatherings thin out as our lives are moving on in all directions and onto new adventures. There in lies the pourpose of SeaBuds. Keeping an ongoing connection between all of us. Especially with the SeaBuds Chatter blog.
When we all meet I am constantly being aske How do I do this or that or my Compter does this or that. Please don't be shy give me a call 425-641-1367 and I will try to help.

Southend Luncheon

Another great gathering of great people. About 50 people showed. Both working flight attendants to retired. I think everyone had a good time and I realized I only wish I could spend more time with the individuals to really sit down and catch up. So many friends so little time.

Hitting Straight

Hi all,

As usual it was great to see everyone at the annual "Bainbridge September Layover Party".  What wonderful accommodation for our food fest and kind of our hostess to allow the use of her wonderful mansion.  Since I've become a "desert golfing rat" for so many years in Mesa AZ, I don't see so many of you any other time of the year.  Seattle will always hold my roots and now I will be spending more time there (Tacoma area) in the summers.  So if you're headed for some winter sunshine in the PHX area, check in with me or want to get together for golf or even lunch in the summers in Seattle I can always be reached on my cell phone (602) 684-3806.

Met a wonderful guy online summer of 2006 and we got engaged in March (he's my Tacoma area life). Just a couple of months later he was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer (a non smoker but exposed to second hand smoke for many years).  So he retired a year early and we've been golfing a bunch and fighting his disease.  We are in Mesa for the lovely winter sunshine now.  Just wanted to share some pictures of a few of our golf and traveling adventures since August. We were at his last company function in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and played that fabulous course. Managed to hit the Par 3 floating green #17 and 2 putt for par and a certificate! Yea!  Tom's company sent us on the golf trip of a lifetime for his retirement... Scotland!!  We had a fantastic trip, two weeks in Scotland and then three days in Bruges Belgium.  Tom totally enjoyed flying in First Class (our bennies in action) across the Atlantic from IAD/LHR and BRU/IAD his only disappointment that those flights were too short. Getting to and from SEA/IAD/SEA were a challenge in SA travel as both fights we originally listed for were canceled...  made for very loooong days of cross country Y seat center travel but we actually left and arrived the days we planned using passes!! Amazing!!

Golfing in Scotland was like walking hallowed ground for us, we played several of the British Open courses (Carnoustie, Crail, Cruden Bay, etc.) and the grand daddy of them all St Andrews Old Course!
The weather was wonderful too!  We had gear for 40 degree sideways wind and rain but could have played in shorts some days, just didn't bring any.   Bruges is a city I've visited several times years ago and the tourists have taken over but it was still great, enjoyed biking the wonderful 15th century cobblestone streets.

Here's some pictures of our great adventures, hope to hear from any and all.  Jana Maxwell  maxwelljk@aol.com

Christmas in the Antarctic

Merry Christmas Dear Friends,
I will not be sending out Christmas Cards this year as I will be gone over Christmas and New Years. I am going on a 25 day cruise to the Antarctic with with a friend from here in Jubilee. This is a trip I have been wanting to do for a long time, and am so excited to be finally doing it. We will probably leave about Dec 10th and return Jan 8th-10th.
It will seem strange not to be home for Christmas, but I plan to get a picture of me nose to nose with a penguin. I will be the one with the big smile on my face. I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Love Judy
