Midnight Raider

Every morning, after filling the bird feeder the day before, we'd find it empty. We thought it was probably a squirrel raiding the feeder, or maybe a raccoon. It didn't take to long for us to figure it out..... Nor did it take us long to put the feeder on a longer pole!

We love having the deer around. I feed them most mornings and there are usually several waiting when I get up wanting their breakfast. As soon as I shake the corn container, they come a runnin'! This morning I counted 14 in our back yard. The only bad thing about it is that you have to make a choice between having flowers/ nice shrubs or deer. You can't have both. I'm not real fond of fire ants and scorpions any way!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Okay Tom, we definitely do not want the SeaBuds to go stale... I think the kayak blog is great, in the summer up here in the North (2 seconds from the Canadian border) we go kayaking in Drayton Harbor usually in the early morning. Why so early??? The sea lions are still sleeping on the harbor docks, which is a good thing... One summer I thought it would be cool to get closer to see them and one big fat boy decided he was going to come for a visit. As he swam under my kayak, I am thinking to myself “Oh boy” I am in trouble.. when he came up on the other side, he turns around and looks at me and barks, okay I am out of here... paddle like hell for the shore. J  We just got back from Cabo San Lucas on Saturday about 5 seconds before it started to snow, and yes we still have piles of it. Is Spring not too far behind? Hope all is well with everyone. Ever think about a Kayak Adventure?

I have always been interested in Kayaking. Even though I really have never pursued it. My neighbor stopped by yesterday for some blog help. He is creating a blog for Kayakers. Both he and his wife are avid kayakers and have traveled to places near and far. I thought I would share his blog with SeaBuds. I found it very interesting and maybe it will inspire some adventure in you.

Where is Everybody

Sure has been a LONG time since anyone has added any little ditties to the blog. We sure don't want to let the blog get stale. I would think this a quiet time of year. After the holidays and before summer. Remember it is so easy to post to the SeaBudsChatter blog with a simple email. That is how I am posting this.

Did You Know This?

I have been receiving acupuncture treatments from Dr. Nam Kim. He is located at the All Natural Healing Center located at 15225 NE 20th Street, Bellevue...it is that darling little yellow house that used to be a DDS Office. Dr. Kim has done all of the landscaping himself. Their website is www.allnaturalhealingcenter.net.....  I am going because I found out that our insurance covers 15 acupuncture treatments per year without a doctors "note"!!!! I didn't know that this was offered thru our insurance!! IT IS....so, take advantage of it while you can!!!!! Dr. Kim's phone is 425-643-3999....altho, you don't need to go to him. I just wanted to let you know that we have 15 visits per year!

Another soup recipe not requiring a jar of beano. Has a different flavor than most veggie soups. I do substitute 1/2 tsp. turmeric for the saffron. Hope you like. Anita DeLeo

Blogging....

Is anyone else having a difficult time identifing who has written some of the blog entries? Some of us (I'm a guilty one in this department) use a 'made up name', or even a first name. This can make it difficult sometimes. (NO!!!! It wasn't me that did that wonderful walk over New Years... wish it was, though) I think it might help to at least use a first name with a portion of one's last name or even full last name. Any thoughts?

Happy New Year

Hi Everyone,

I want to wish everyone Happy New Year and share our New Year Eve tradition. It is to go on a Volksmarch. This year is was through downtown Seattle. We started on lower Queen Anne, walked down to the waterfront around waterfront park and the new sculpture park. Then on to Pioneer Square and back along 5th Ave near the convention center and back to Queen Anne. Then we all (11) went to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Downtown was beautiful with all the lights and window shopping. The walk is 10k (6 miles). It was a beautiful evening, cool & crisp. So much fun.

These walks are all over the state of Wa and worldwide. They take place every weekend. Some of the upcoming walks are the Cle Elum Slip and Slide Jan 12-13, Leavenworth Snowshoe Walk on Jan 19th, Upper Skagit Valley Bald Eagle Fest Walk Jan 26-27,Annual Northwest Trek Walk Feb 2-3 and a Valentine Walk on Feb 9th in Redmond. Web site is www.ava.org/.  Check them out. Comfortable shoes is all you need. And they are free.

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year.

Karen

I have not seen any articles though, that explains why, or an apology. Have any of you??
I emailed Ms. Lorenz, requesting her to set the record straight!! Kate.Lorenz@careerbuilders.com

RAWLINGS MEMORIAL

Hi everyone - we've been notified that the FA's have been asked to contribute a portion of the food for the luncheon to follow the memorial. The FA's who live on Whidbey are going to be taking care of all of that along with some kind of plant for Catherine with a card with all of our names on it. If you would like to participate a $5 donation made out to Caryl Jones (1472 E Shoreview Dr., Freeland, WA 98249) will be applied to the food and plant expense and your name will be added to the memorial day card.

For those of you who are planning to attend the Trinity Luthern Church (has a PO Box for an address) but is located right on the main highway (525) and Woodard Ave. Which is approx 10 miles from the ferry in Freeland. You'll come to the red light with the Shell Gas Station in Freeland and go one long block on your left. You'll pass the Gay 90's and Texaco Gas station and it's right there on your left. The services are scheduled for 1 PM but it is suggested you plan to be at the church by 12:30 for seating purposes. There is going to be a lot of folks attending.

Hope all is well with everyone - take care   Jane

Health Food!

I just found this wonderful, after-holiday, low-cal recipe for a Tuna, Pasta, Artichoke hearts, Spinach, Sundried Tomatoes recipe.    And under 400 calories a serving.  Anyone out there have any other yummy weight-conscious recipes/ideas?  This chubby body would love to hear them...
Click onto:

for the complete recipe.  By the way, I used cork screw pasta and, more important, also tossed in a bunch of baby spinach when it was done and it was GREAT!

Thanks, Suzanne W-A
