Pass Charges

RE: Employee Travel Policy Changes
We have reviewed the employee and retiree travel policies to ensure that the overall travel program is market
competitive and aligns with our business and employee program strategy. As a result of this review, travel policy
has been revised to leverage program design, delivery and technology to create the greatest value to employees and
retirees.
We recognize the importance of pleasure travel programs to all employees and retirees. Feedback from you and
employees was given careful consideration in our review process. Our objective is to improve and align the
customer and employee travel experience.
Effective November 1, 2007, we will make the following travel policy changes:
• We will no longer assess domestic and international Economy Class service charges on United Airlines and
Ted for travel eligible employees and retirees of United Airlines, United Express and Mileage Plus, Inc.
We will continue to waive Economy Class service charges for travel on United Express. Applicable
transportation taxes and fees will continue to apply.
• We’ll continue to award service-charge waived flight segments when we meet our established goals under
the Performance Incentive Travel Program, and we will extend the usage period from one year to two years
to allow employees more time to take advantage of the awards.
􀂾 Any Performance Incentive segments that remain in an employee’s “bank” as of 11/1/07 will
expire two years after the date of issuance. Employees can click on the My Coupons tab in
WebList to view their current available segments.
􀂾 Employees who list themselves in United First or United Business using Performance Incentive
segments - but who are ultimately seated in service charge-waived United Economy - will have
their Performance Incentive segments returned to their “bank” of unused segments.
• United will change the pleasure travel service charge methodology (excluding companion) on United
Airlines, Ted and United Express to the Zonal Employee Discount (ZED) service charge methodology
which is currently used on some interline carriers. A comparison pricing chart with several flight segment
pricing examples is attached for your review.
− United Airlines will discount ZED at a level to maintain current pricing on most mainline United
Airlines and Ted flight segments as recognition that travel is on own carrier as follows:
􀂾 Domestic Premium Class Travel: 65% Discount – 35% of ZED
􀂾 International Premium Cabin Travel: 50% Discount – 50% of ZED
􀂾 First Class, Business Class: ZED Business Low Fare Level will be used

Eclipse

Felt like the old day's "Up in the middle of the night" The picture is of the moon taken at 0300. It was worth the loss of sleep. After all we have been trained at that. Hope others got to see this in real time

Rachel Woodings

We just received some sad news from a DCASW Flight Attendant that retired UAL Flight Attendant, Rachel Woodings, has been diagnosed with 4th stage colon cancer. She has also had MS for some time. For those of you who flew with her and for those of you who just heard about her you know she is a "Legend in Her Own Time"... someone to admire, respect, and someone who many wished they had the nerve to be.Whether you know/knew her or not she would love to receive cards of encouragement and humor from fellow Flight Attendants, former stewardesses, Pilots, and CSRs. Please take a moment to send her a card and make her days happy ones! Her antics made many of us smile so let us return the favor. She has eternal hope and is very up emotionally. Her address is below:

Marlyn Montgomery Retirement Party

What a wonderful time was had at Marilyn Montgomery's retirement party. Pictures are posted on www.SEABUDS.com . It was hosted and held at Bonnie Magnuson's house on Lake Steilicum and what an incredible setting it was. Bonnie's house is beautiful and sitting outside on her deck, with the lake right there was gorgeous. My first time in that neck of the woods and I was most impressed. Bonnie's husband, John, was gracious to give a few of us a ride around the lake. I love water - it's sooooo calming.

The party was co hosted by Judy Puckett, Kathy Gross and Teena Barnett. The food and drinks were outstanding (It wasn't a potluck!! what a treat) and then there was the guest list!! How very special it is to get all those hugs and to be able to catch up with everyone. Can you tell I had a great time??!! As much as we poopoo UAL and all the bs we dealt with, we are still reaping the benefits of the career we had and it is at functions like this. I feel like I've been given gifts every time I go to gatherings and they are from you who attend. Thank you for the time you took to share with all who attended. I know I smile for days with my thoughts of the day. Thanks to everyone who came and to the great ladies who put on such a great affair. I'm still smiling..

Summer Travel

Wow News Flash "Jet Blue" After sitting around Boston all day we finally jumped ship and called Jet Blue. Sure wish we had thought of that a little earlier we could have made the BOS/SEA flt. Anyway got good seats to SFO and it is actually less expensive to fly on Jet Blue as a UAL employee/retiree than it is to use a UA pass. $25.00 + the usual this tax and that tax which added up to around $33.00 per person. I only wish I had known about that on our way to BOS Non Stop. Go figure.

Sunrise in Maine

Well we made it the east coast. We are staying in York Beach Maine with my brother Bill and his wife. Having a great time. Our next adventure will be the four of us trying to SA home on Sat. Here is a picture I took of this mornings sunrise. Sort of makes the travel thing worth it.

Family photos from Vicki

I'm new to blogging, so I'm trying to see if I can add pictures. Tom gave me excellent instructions. Please don't hesitate to jump in. The more people who contribute, the more fun it'll be.

The first picture is of Jaime and Scarlett taken near her first birthday.

The next one was taken the night we celebrated Ken and Savannah's birthdays. From left to right, back row, Hunter, Brad, Gretchen, Trevor, Scarlett, Jaime and Jennifer. I'm holding Kylie and Ken's holding Savannah and Donavan.

AA ZED fares

Hope you have a wonderful time in BOS with your family!

I've had so much trouble this summer flying from AUS-SEA because the loads are so full. I did some checking around and found out that AA has a non-stop and they offer us ZED fares. ZED fares are so much cheaper than the old 10% of the most expensive fare that most other airlines offer. In fact, my AA ticket was about the same price as flying on UA in FC on both segments.
Hopefully, this info might help someone else in their time of need.
