THE DISPLAY IS FOR SPRING AND INVOLVES ALL AIRLINES. THERE WILL BE 12 MANNEUQINS AND SOME STATIC DISPLAYS......WE ARE LOOKING FOR ANY OF THE BRANIFF PUCCI UNIFORM, ESPECIALLY ONE CALLED GEMINI IV...
.THE PSA ORANGE/RED/ PINK FROM 1966 AND ANYTHING FROM PSA 1970-1973. ANYBODY KNOW ANYBODY IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH FRIENDS WHO FLEW FOR PSA A LONG TIME AGO....?
ALSO HUGHES AIRWEST.....WE HAVE MOST OF THE UNIFORM, BUT NOT THE CANARY YELLOW PLASTIC SHOES WITH CLUNKY HEELS......SOUNDS LIKE THEY WERE BURNED LIKE OUR EVINS SHOES..... ")
GOOD NEWS, EACH OF THE AIRLINES GET ONE MANNEQUIN AND UAL GETS THREE!!!.....PLUS SOME STATIC DISPLAY....THE MUSEUM IS TREATING THE JOB OF STEWARDESS WITH RESPECT AND IS SHOWING HOW WE EVOLVED INTO SAFETY PROFESSIONALS......

UAL Selling itself (Boyd Group)

____________Hot Flash - Monday, October 29, 2007Now, We Can Talk Mergers
United's Perfuming ItselfIt's about as subtle as a IED attack.United has clearly tossed itself onto the sale block. Not to mention the chopping block. They're apparently clearing the decks to make themselves an easy pick-up. They're talking about selling off parts to, in the B-school-ese they're paying dearly for, "unlock shareholder value." Not to mention shed stuff that might be duplicative in case somebody wanted to buy them.United appears to be transforming itself from an airline into an acquisition target. They've hired consultants to "review" spinning off their maintenance operations - translation: spin'em off as fast as possible. They're talking about selling off other parts of the company, too. Parts that once gone might make United more attractive. And with cash in the till, too. Then we have the CEO who was reported to have blurted out to an employee meeting that the choice is a combination of United with another carrier, or back into bankruptcy. Subtle, eh? A heck of a compliment to a management team that had the airline in Chapter 11 for three years. This presents a real challenge for the rest of the industry. Since UA is hell bent on selling itself, it's not out of the question that somebody will look at buying. That means that every airline out there has no choice but to sit down and accomplish a lot of "what-if" scenario planning regarding their strategic options.Buy United? Encourage a competitor to do so? Make a play for key parts? Plan a regulatory attack, with the intent of stripping key parts (like the Tokyo fifth-freedom rights) from a potential merger? Might the PBGC try to grab some of the spin-off cash? Might the Star Alliance be interested in doing something? Go after ORD slots? Lots of competitive options out there. One thing, at least at this point, seems to be certain. United's management really wants to sell.So while mergers are neither necessary nor inevitable, if United wants to sell itself, it's going to sell itself. And somebody - or somebodies - will end up buying all or pieces of the entity.Stand by for some really innovative competitive responses.

Zach's update!

I want to share some good news about Zach, he has been in the Descipleship Program (Treatment) for 30 days now and is doing awesome! He had a minor setback on Halloween morning when he was adjusting a lawnmower and got his hand caught in it, we spent hours at Harborview, he lost part of his wedding ring finger and did some damage to the others, but the good news is he went right back to treatment. While we were at Harborview I called Pam Milbern as her daughter works in radiology ( the all nite shift) her daughter called and said she would show up early so she could see us, I'm adding some pictures since it was Halloween she was dressed as an angel, can you imagine what some of them must have thought when they went back into xray and found the angel...she said well at least it isn't a devil. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, we have something to truly be thankful for this year. God Bless, Julie Hamilton

Employees Can Now Use 20 Percent Discount to Book and Ticket Revenue Travel on 1-800-UAL-LIST

Employees Can Now Use 20 Percent Discount to Book and Ticket Revenue Travel on 1-800-UAL-LIST
----------------------------------------------------
Using the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) employee travel telephone line, 1-800-UAL-LIST, employees can now purchase revenue tickets on United and Ted using the 20 percent employee discount. When you use the system to book travel, an electronic ticket and a receipt are automatically generated. The system also accepts your Mileage Plus number. The fully automated process does require a credit card for payment.

* Through IVR (Interactive Voice Response) employees can request fare information based on price or schedule, in order to receive the lowest discounted fare. Employees can either ticket immediately or place the reservation on hold for ticketing within the designated time limit.

* "We are delighted to offer employees this new option for purchasing revenue tickets with their 20 percent discount," says Todd Arkenberg, vice president - Employee Experience. "This added convenience represents the continuous effort we are making to help employees make the most of their travel privileges."

* The Information Services Division and the Contact Center Strategy Group collaborated on the enhancement. They will introduce further improvements in 2008, including speech recognition upgrades and reductions in background noise sensitivity.

* Employees can access IVR using a file number and a personal identification number. Following the prompts, employees can request the twenty percent discount, list for flights, check load status and modify or cancel reservations. Calls made from within the U.S. are toll-free; however, international direct dialing rates apply to calls originating outside of the U.S.

* We encourage employees who are new to IVR to call 1-800-UAL-LIST to list for space available travel, to book positive space travel and to list companions.

Uncertain how the Retiree Travel Desk will handle this new procedure at this time.  We will know soon I am sure.

A Note From Jane

Hi Everyone and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
I wanted to say a few words about Susie Graves Memorial and how nice it was. About 20-25 of us were there. I introduced myself to her brother and he said he was pleased to see us as he didn't know how to get ahold of her FA friends. I told him we had our ways of getting the word out. He gave a nice eulogy and said that she was 10 yrs older than him and when he was 10 she left for flying. How she loved balloons and the color purple and how she probably wore purple underwear, but he didn't know for sure. Mary Tooker spoke to him and said how she had flown a lot with Susie and yes she did indeed wear purple underwear. As far as what happened to Susie her sister volunteered the following to us nosey ladies. She had had a heart attack in March and of course xrays had been taken but nothing had shown up until 30 days before she died when she was diagnosed with lung cancer and in those 30 days she ended up dying of brain cancer, it had traveled and grown that fast. The last 10 yrs had been hard on her and some days were just too painful to get out of bed. She's at peace and out of pain now but always in our thoughts and memories.
About that sending a card to soldiers - no good - go to www.snopes.com and there is an article stating the Post Ofc will not accept cards addressed that way (To Any Recovering or Injured Soldier) - good idea but it doesn't work.
Well, two wks from today we leave for Barcelona for 3 nites and then our cruise across the Atlantic. Getting excited about that. I hear from a lot of you that you are also doing some traveling - this is exactly what needs to be posted on Tom's chatter blog www.seabuds.seasw@blogger.com - so let us all know what you're up to. Put it in your favorites and you go right there. This email will also be posted there.
Take care everyone and Happy Holidays to you all Jane

I support Hillary I hope you will too!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted you to know that last Saturday I joined Hillary’s campaign here in Washington as a team leader. I am hoping some of you would be interested in becoming involved as a volunteer too. If you are, you can reach me at macasne@comcast.net or at 206-282-2083 and I will get you signed up. Washington State’s Democratic caucus is February 9. It is not too soon to start working on this campaign. Washington’s caucus is 2 days after Super Tuesday so is being considered part of the action of super Tuesday by the campaign. If you haven’t made a decision yet about Hillary I would be glad to answer questions or talk to you about why I am supporting her. By the way this is a family affair. My adult daughter (can you believe it?) is a member of the campaign staff for Hillary in Iowa so this is becoming a family affair.

Hope to hear from you,

Martha Casne

Error in Newspapers on Susie's Memorial

Dale Murtland-McClaskey has been keeping me informed of the info on Susie and this AM we heard the newspapers were saying the date of the memorial was on the 23rd. She talked with Dennis and he even had to make some calls to make sure the family hadn't changed anything and as I reported the memorial is on Monday, Nov. 12th at 11AM. The family is going to have the newspaper correct this info. The address in the paper is 630 - 7th Ave. N. for the church, the address I gave you was the priests home address and is located right next to the church. Hope this clears everything up - I can see Susie laughing at all the fuss.

Hope all is well with everyone. We've had our share of losses lately. I'm so glad I was able to see Susie at some of the luncheons we both attended in the past couple of yrs. At times like this I'm glad I made the effort to attend those luncheons when I could, you just never know. I'm also glad we had a few more laughs together beyond flying.
I'm presently between trips, just got back from a wk in Cabo where a good time was had by all, and am planning to head out to Barcelona, Sp the wk after Thanksgiving with Terri Coyne, Cathie Bieri and Shari Pitt. for a 3 day stay and then a 9 day cruise to Boston. Never crossed the Atlantic in Dec. We have balcony's, sure hope we get to use them, and our rooms are adjoining. We're gonna have bfst rm svc and play cards in our pj's. Can't wait!!!
Some other news is my daughter, Tracey, husb Tom, and my 6 mo old grandson, Ethan, are moving to PA. What a bummer :(. Guess I'll be making some cross country trips. I'm gonna drive with Tracey and Ethan and 2 dogs in Jan to PA, about 1 hr west of Philly. Could be a real adventure. Snow maybe???
I'll be at Susie's memorial so hope to see some of you then. Be Safe and Take Care Jane

SUSIE (GRAVES) SHAW

It saddens me deeply to let you know Susie passed away Saturday, Nov. 2nd of cancer and as we know she had dealt with horrible complications from a previous surgery. I'm waiting for word of a memorial service that is being planned and will have an address for you to send cards to her husband. Bye Susie - Jane
