Enrolled friends for 2013

Just a reminder that it's time for retirees to designate their enrolled friends for 2013.  Go to flyingtogether.ual.com, click on All About Me on the left side, and then click Pass Riders to make any changes.  If your current selections are not changed, they will automatically continue for 2013.

Retirees should click the Enroll link in the Enrolled Friend box to make an election for the 2013 calendar year. Retirees may decide between 3 options: 1) to start 2013 with their current Enrolled Friends, 2) Add a new Enrolled Friend(s) for 2013 or 3) start 2013 without an Enrolled Friend(s). Retirees may add Enrolled Friend(s) at any time during the calendar year provided they have not previously made a 2013 election or rollover.

For travel on January 1, elections must be made by Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 7:00 PM CST

Charles Souter

I don't know how many of you remember, but JoAnne Souter was married to Chuck (Charles), a SEA pilot.  JoAnne passed away several years ago.  I was looking through some of my old F/A photos and ran across one of JoAnne so I decided to send it to Chuck.  This is the reply I received from his brother.

Vicki, I am Gary Souter - Charles' brother - and am sad to have to write you this note as Charles passed away very suddenly on 4/10 of a massive MI.  We were all together at our son's home for a family cookout on Saturday and everyone had a great time.....  Then on Tuesday I had to rush over to his home around 230p as he was having trouble breathing and as I talked with him he recognized me and knew I was going to take him to the ER....but he passed away right there in my arms as I was getting him up out of bed....did CPR on him until the EMS crew arrived but it was to no avail.
Thanks for the thought to send the picture of JoAnne.....he never got over her loss and talked of her constantly.  He was my only brother and I do miss him terribly.
Thanks again, gary souter

A few days later after I asked him for permission to post his notes.

NO problem in posting the note....and sorry that I was not more timely in getting the info to you.  But, Charles laptop was so "gummed up" with popups, etc. that I had to put it in the shop to be worked on and just got it back yesterday......and that is when I noticed that I had not replied to your note.

JoAnne was loved by all in our family and it was a real loss for Charles as he never got over losing "his JoAnne".....talked about her to me on a daily basis.

Charles was my only brother and as such I dearly miss him as we talked multiple times daily and exchanged emails all the time.....

Thanks for your friendship with JoAnne and Charles as I know that they cherished the many friends that they had all over the country.

My email address is glsouter@earthlink.net and I would be happy to pass along any notes, etc. to my mother to help console her in this time of great loss.

gary

I know the family would appreciate any and all words of comfort at this difficult time.

Thanks,
Vicki Sayre

Clair Lilley SEAFO

H. CLAIR LILLEY

H. Clair Lilley March 31st, 1928-December 29th, 2011 Clair was born in Newton Kansas to Roger and Ethel Lilley. Clair's first love was flying airplanes, so as a teenager he worked at the local airport to earn enough money to pay for flying lessons. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1946, and joined the military later that year. He was deployed to Japan and recalled for the Korean War. Upon his return he discovered his second love, and married Ruby Lee Schlesinger in 1949, and together they raised their son Roger Clair in Seattle, Washington. Clair pursued a successful career as an airline pilot for United Airlines, from which he retired as a captain in 1988. Upon his retirement, Clair devoted his time to family as well as some of his greatest pleasures, including travel, golf, and -most of all- fishing and tying flies. He spent many memorable days with his family at his cabin in the foothills of Mt. Adams gardening, hunting, and fishing. Clair had a unique ability to be both rational and creative, and will be remembered for his honesty, integrity, loyalty, and zest for life. His life was a journey traveled honorably and deliberately, and is peppered with triumph, adventure, and beloved family and friends. Clair was passionate and outspoken, often simultaneously. His favorite quote was; "never give up." Clair was preceded in death by Ruby, his wife of 50 years, who passed away in 2000. He is survived by his wife MaryLou Lilley, his son Roger, his granddaughter Carlee Tulett (Nathan), and three great-grandsons, Reid, Roger, and Finn. Memorials may be made to Franciscan Hospice House, 2901 Bridgeport Way, University Place, WA 98466. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home, 253-572-6003.
