Women in America 1880 - present
The museum of flight has been contacted by a college student doing a final paper on "stewardesses" and the events that forced the airlines to eliminate the 'unmarried' clause from their hiring practices. the student, Mary Blanchard, is looking for any kind of documentation, like a copy of the paper we signed in the 60's that said we would not marry..or anything in the pamphlet that was sent to us during recruitment. the museum is unable to help her because all of the archives are in storage due to a remodel in their area...
her final paper would be greatly enhanced by anyone's recollections or personal stories of being terminated because they got married or any extra history that you might have.. if you have anything to share, her e mail address is blamry@comcast.net .
it is always a pleasure to help someone who is showing the history of women and what they have faced .
thanks, and happy landings....peggy verger
